Project Title: 3D Bobblehead Pen Project

Statement of Inquiry: 3D Printing Systems Allows for the Ability to Invent and Innovate to produce personal or cultural products.

Major Skills explored in this unit:  3D Modelling using Autodesk Meshmixer (CAD), 3D Printing (CAM), Design cycle 

About the Unit: Students are given a brief that they are "designers for a company that creates and sell merchandise for bobble-head pens for consumers. The students had a choice of choosing from one of three themes (African, Animal or Monster) Some students were doing an IDU with English Literature and had to choose the African theme as this was related to the book they were studying in English. The students are to design the head of the pen in a 3D software and then 3D Print it a prototype. The body is to be designed by hand using modelling clay. then put them together to create a prototype of the pen design.

About the Unit: Students are given a brief to Research, Design, Make and Evaluate a digital product to help elderly people that have lost the ability to speak, to communicate with their carers and family.  They have to design an easy-to-use app that will allow the elderly to give basic commands to their carers without speaking, with just the click of a button.

About the Unit: Students are given a brief to design and create an explanation pop-up book that will explore a story that you are studying in English. This unit can easily become an IDU unit with Design and English.
